Privacy policy
What pestcite records when you use the site, the app and our emails, and why.
Updated Nov 8, 2026
pestcite is run by Helios One Oy, which is responsible for your data. In this policy "we" means us, and "you" means anyone who uses pestcite.com, app.pestcite.com or our emails.
What happens to your email
- Start a free trial, or sign in
- An account with a free trial, once you enter the code we send. The sign-in code, the Monday list, and up to four emails about your trial: a welcome, a check-in after a week, a note when a record you reported is fixed, and a reminder before the trial ends.
- Download a list or email it to yourself (in the app)
- An account with a free trial, or the file goes to your account if you have one. The file downloads at once. The list you asked for, then the same emails as a trial.
- Get next Monday's list (on pestcite.com)
- No account. One email next Monday. If you hadn't looked up an area, the sample spreadsheet downloads at once and no email follows.
- Waitlist for an area we don't cover yet
- No account. One email when we cover your area.
- Book a call
- No account.A confirmation email, then our co-founder writes to you about the time.
- When you first give us your email in one of these, our co-founder gets an email about it so we can help, and our analytics links the email to your earlier visits.
- Every Monday list and every trial email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
- Other customers can't see your email, your territories or your lists.
- To have your email and everything tied to it deleted, write to hello@pestcite.com.
What we record
- Visits. The pages you open, the link or campaign you came from, your clicks and scrolling, how long you stay, your browser, device, screen size and IP address.
- Session recordings. A replay of the page as you use it: what is on screen, what you type, and the page's console messages and network requests. Password fields, sign-in codes, card fields and anything we mark private are masked in your browser and never reach us. Everything else you type is recorded, such as a ZIP code or an email address, even if you don't send the form.
- Your lookups. The ZIP codes and company names you type into the lookup.
- What you give us. Your email when you start a trial, download a list, join the waitlist or ask for next Monday's list. Your name, company, phone, time zone and note if you book a call. Your territories, any "Wrong record?" reports and feedback (with screenshots you attach), and the emails of colleagues you invite. With a report we also store your browser and IP address.
- Account and billing. How and when you sign in, your plan and trial dates, and once billing opens your Stripe customer and subscription ids. Card details go to Stripe, not to us.
- Email. Which emails we sent you, whether each was delivered, opened, bounced or marked as spam, and any unsubscribe.
The records on pestcite are public government data about businesses and buildings. We print company names only, never a person's or a homeowner's name.
Cookies and browser storage
pc_gid- A random id for your browser, so a visit and a later sign-up count as one person.
pc_ft- The first link or campaign that brought you here. Set once, never changed.
pc_lt- The latest link or campaign that brought you here.
pc_exit- Whether we already showed you our offer as you were leaving, so you see it only once.
pc_qa- Set only by our own test tools, so test visits are kept out of the numbers.
pc_exit_mem- Site only, in local storage: when we showed the offer as you were leaving, whether you gave us an email, and the area you looked up (forgotten after thirty days).
ph_…- PostHog's id for your browser and for each open tab, in a cookie, in local storage and in session storage.
pc_last_spec- App only, in local storage: the last area you looked at.
Our pc_ cookies last just over a year and are shared between pestcite.com and app.pestcite.com, so a
visit and a later sign-up count as one person. When you sign in, the app also keeps your sign-in in your browser's
local storage.

How long we keep it
- Session recordings: thirty days, then PostHog deletes them.
- Other analytics events: up to seven years in PostHog, so we can compare how pestcite is used over time.
- Download links: they stop working after seven days.
- Your email, account, territories, reports, bookings and email history: until you ask us to delete them.
Your choices
- Every Monday list and every trial email (welcome, tips, trial ending) has a one-click unsubscribe link. One-off emails you ask for, such as sign-in codes and booking confirmations, don't.
- You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it (recordings and analytics events included), or object to our use of it. We answer within one month.
- Blocking or clearing cookies and site data in your browser stops us from linking one visit to the next. It doesn't turn off analytics or recordings for the page you're on. To have them deleted, email us.
- If you're unhappy with how we handled your data, tell us. You can also complain to Finland's Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman, or to the data protection authority where you live or work.
When this policy changes, we update this page and the date at the top.
If we emailed you first
We write to owners and managers of pest control companies about pestcite. If that's how you heard of us:
- We found your company and your work address in public sources: state pesticide-business registers (such as New York's DEC list), city and state business records, trade association directories and your company's own website.
- We use your name, company, work email and your company's area to write the email and the sample list in it.
- The link in our email can carry a code tied to your address, so we can see that you opened the page.
- Reply "no" and we won't email you again. We keep a note of your address so it stays that way. To have anything else deleted, write to hello@pestcite.com.
